Our focus
CAC brings a business perspective to discussions about trade, customs, taxation, regulatory administration and illicit commerce. Our work centres on the practical effects of policy on retailers, importers, distributors and other participants in the lawful cigar sector.
Clear obligations and effective enforcement serve both legitimate businesses and the public interest. Our aim is to advance practical improvements supported by evidence.
How we approach the work
- Define the issue. Separate legislation, administration, guidance and private service processes.
- Check the evidence. Identify the source, jurisdiction, relevant dates and limitations.
- Propose a workable improvement. Explain what should change, who can change it and how the outcome could be assessed.
Leadership and accountability
Sheldon Lloyd Smith serves as President. The association’s directors provide organizational leadership and oversight.
